From STAFF REPORTS
Arkalalah officials have decided on a theme for the 75th anniversary event this Oct. 25-28. They also have received an annual contribution -- this year, for $750 -- from AT&T to fund the Parade of Lights to be held Oct. 25.
This year's theme is "Diamond Reflections," an appropriate one for the anniversary, since the diamond is commonly used to describe 75th anniversaries, said Dustin Quint, Arkalalah Executive Committee chairman.
"Seventy-five years is a big year for us," Quint said. "We wanted a theme to go along with this anniversary that fit as best as it could."
Richard Shank, AT&T's director for external affairs, said his company is a long-time supporter of Arkalalah and the Parade of Lights. AT&T has been a sponsor for about 10 years, he said.
"Our employees from Arkansas City and surrounding towns are involved in the parade," Shank said. "It is an event that we look forward to each year."
