Along with being a member of the Tigerette Danceline, Katie Bevilacqua is a student ambassador, Student Government Association President, a resident assistant in the Oscar Kimmel Dormitory, is involved in PAWS, Campus Christian Fellowship and ACES.

All of this has not slowed her down enough to keep her from being one of the five finalists for Queen Alalah LXXVI.

Bevilacqua came to Cowley from Maize High School, where she was a member of the tennis team. She heard about Cowley from her life-long friend, Lisa West, who came to school with Bevilacqua as a freshman. She ended up getting an ACES Scholarship to attend Cowley.

After attending the Dancing with the Tigerettes clinic for fun one evening, she was talked into trying out for the squad.

"I did sports all through school and it was weird not doing sports, so I talked to Lindsay (Sanderholm) about it," Bevilacqua said. "I get bored easily, so I would rather be busy than have nothing to do."

Bevilacqua is glad she came to Cowley. "I toured here and Butler and I liked it here a lot better," said Bevilacqua.

She is the daughter of Mike and Louise Bevilacqua, of Winfield. The sophomore pharmacy major at Cowley has one sister, Beth, 21, who attends St. Gregory's University, and two brothers, Scott, 17, and Zach, 15. Scott is a sophomore and Zach is a freshman at Winfield High School.

Grandparents are the late Ralph and Bonnie Haslouer, of Abilene, and Mike and Mary Bevilacqua, of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Bevilacqua had an opportunity to experience Arkalalah for the first time last yea, and helped work the Pancake Feed.

"I had a blast at Arkalalah last year," Bevilacqua said. This year, she will be even more involved in the Arkalalah festivities.

"It's an honor because there are a lot of girls that deserved it," Bevilacqua said.

She recently switched her major from elementary education/Spanish to pharmacy.

After Cowley, she plans to transfer to either the University of Kansas or Oklahoma University to attend medical school.

"I would like to work in Spain or volunteer at a third-world country," Bevilacqua said.

Bevilacqua is friends with the other four Queen candidates. As a student ambassador, she works with Courtney Crain, she dances with Ashley Cochran, she had a class with Jancye Sturd and took part in Relay for Life with Elisha Swope and Cochran.

"We're all good friends," Bevilacqua said. "I'm looking forward to this and am going to have fun with it."
