NORMAN, Okla. — The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has issued Tornado Watches for portions of western and central Kansas, including Cowley County, and eastern and central Oklahoma, including Kay County, from 1:50 to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Primary threats include several tornadoes, numerous large hail events of up to 3 inches in diameter and several damaging wind gusts to 80 mph.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
People in those areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions, and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
