Block party planned at Cowley’s new location

Upward Bound students visit police, fire-EMS departments

TOPEKA — Kansas. Gov. Sam Brownback was presented with an honorary challenge coin from the Kansas branch of the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program on June 16, at the State Capitol Building in Topeka. He was also presented with letters of appreciation from participants in the program.

Theater students finding success

It is setting up to be an exciting summer for students in Cowley College’s theater department. Five theater students have secured summer internships, two will be performing in summer theater productions, one will be on a theater production staff and two more will be auditioning for famed animator Don Bluth’s theater company, as well as Disney Parks.

In-state tuition rates extended to veterans and armed forces

TOPEKA — Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback recently signed into law HB 2154, which includes authorization for all veterans eligible for federal education benefits, along with all current members of the armed forces, to be eligible for in-state tuition rates at all 32 public postsecondary colleges and universities in Kansas, effective July 1 — regardless of time spent in the state.

Cowley only college in Kansas to offer ‘Difficult Airway’ course

Cowley College — which has one of the few paramedic programs in the nation and the only one in Kansas to offer “The Difficult Airway” course as part of its core curriculum — conducted the intensive, two-day, national level course designed for paramedics, critical care transport nurses, physicians and other advanced providers on last Tuesday and Wednesday in Arkansas City.
