Proposed changes to municipal code could allow Arkansas City residents to own pit bulls, change how pawn shops and secondhand dealers report some sales to the police, and streamline code enforcement.

The changes were discussed Tuesday night during a regular meeting of the City Commission, but not acted upon.

I am glad that Kansas has an open carry law. If they lift the ban on Pit Bulls I will strap on my handgun for protection when I take my dog and grandkids on a walk in the neighborhood.

Although lifting the ban on Pit Bulls will make it easier for law enforcement to identify the drug dealers since dealers tend to own pit bulls to protection.
