Shirley I. Lee

Shirley I. Lee, 73, Winfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at her home. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. Born May 18, 1934, in Purdy, Mo., she was the daughter of Hershel and Evelyn Prier. She worked for 20 plus years for the Snyder Clinic in Winfield. She began working at the front desk and retired as business manager for the clinic. Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Lee of the home, daughter, Melinda Duggan, Edgerton, Kan.; brother, Ronald Prier, Mathiston, Miss.; sister, Treva Black, Livingston, Texas; one granddaughter; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee.

A memorial has been established for the Snyder Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.


Jana Kaye Black

Jana Kaye Black, 42, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Cremation has been effected. Jana was born Feb. 25, 1965, in Arkansas City, the daughter of Ed and Sue White. She attended Arkansas City High School, graduating in 1983. She later graduated from Cowley College and Southwestern College with her bachelor's degree. On Sept. 18, 1996, she married Steven D. Black in Winfield, and the couple made their home in Arkansas City. Jana worked at the Cowley College and the hospital cafeterias. She also drove pilot cars for a short time. Survivors include her husband, Steven Black, of the home; son, Audie L. Lankford Jr. and fiancee, Maria, of Arkansas City; daughter, Kylee J. Wise and husband, Sheldon, of Newkirk; stepson, Benjamin Black, of Winfield, stepdaughters, Andrea Black, of Winfield, and Sandra Black, of Virginia; parents, Ed and Sue White, of Leon; five brothers, Jeff Bailey, of Arkansas City, Thomas Bailey and Donnie Bailey, of Missouri, Mike Bailey, of Wichita, and Mark Bailey; grandchild, Korbin Wise; stepgrandchildren, Josie Wise, Xander, Lillian and Kaden. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

The Jana K. Black Memorial has been established. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. On-line condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.

Harold E. Koch, 81, of Arkansas City, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.

Jack C. Kelley

Jack C. Kelley, 85, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Hope Cemetery.
