Marcelle Stahlhut Gosting

Marcelle Stahlhut Gosting, 87, longtime Kildare resident, died, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Walnut Place Nursing Home, Dallas. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the First Christian Church of Newkirk, at the corner of Ninth Street and Walnut Avenue. The Rev. James Hollifield, minister of the First United Methodist Church of Newkirk, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery Born Nov. 28, 1920, in Newkirk, she was the daughter of Alvin C. and Nina Belle (Frick) Stahlhut. She was employed in the Kay County Court House as secretary to W.R. Hutchins in the County Extension Office. Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Gosting Sr.; a son, Don Gosting Jr., of Dallas; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Randy; her parents; her siblings, Calvin Stahlhut, Phyllis Blood and Alverna "Janie" Hillman.

Memorial funds have been established with the First United Methodist Church of Newkirk and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be madethrough Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk 74647-0468. Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.


Elizabeth Lessert Jones

Elizabeth Lessert Jones, 83, former Ponca City resident, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in Saddleback Memorial Hospital, Laguna Hills, Calif. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at the Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Joseph Vas, minister of St. Francis Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery. Friends may call at the fuenral home on Friday. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Born April 16, 1924, in Ponca City, she was the daughter of William Kavanaugh and Ruth Elizabeth (O'Farrell) Lessert. She was employed as a cashier-clerk for nearly 25 years with Alpha Beta Grocery in Costa Mesa. Survivors include one son, Randy Herman, of Glennville, Ga.; one daughter, Rosalea Connor, of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; and two sisters, Marie Koopman, of Ponca City, and Jeannette Arnold of Tahlequah, Okla. She was preceded in death by two husbands, John Phillip Seidlich and Robert Warren Jones; and one brother, Adrian Kavanaugh Lessert.

Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.


Carolyn Sue (Howell) Poe

Carolyn Sue (Howell) Poe, 64, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, winged her flight to realms of day, Monday, Jan. 14, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Woodland United Methodist Church in Wichita. Formerly of Norwich, she was born Dec. 22, 1943, in Wichita. Carolyn was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy High School and Friends University. She graduated in 1964 with honors, receiving the Order of the Tower Award. Carolyn was a music teacher in Norwich and taught for 19 years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star for over 25 years, Past Matron of Ascenath Chapter No. 430, and Della Chapter No. 172 in Kingman. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie L. Poe; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Aaron O'Donnell and Rebecca and Rick Ohlemacher; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes (DeVore) and Thomas Eugene Howell.
