Helen McLean
Helen McLean, 86, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at The Point Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Webster, Texas.
Simple services will be held at the home of her daughter, Samme Lansdowne, 2026 Hillside Oak Lane, Houston, Texas, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008.
Following her wishes, her remains will be cremated.
Helen was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Caney, Kan., to Ollie and Fred Fisher. She graduated from Arkansas City High School. She married Charlie Littlejohn in 1940 and moved to Oregon, working in the shipyards during WWII. She had a sewing shop in Reno, Nev. She married William McLean, of Petaluma, Calif., in 1960 and moved back to Arkansas City, to care for her mother. The couple operated a vacuum cleaner repair shop and a sewing shop from their home.
In 2000, she moved to Houston, Texas, to be near her youngest daughter, Samme.
Helen was an excellent seamstress, and made all of her children's clothes. She loved making wedding and prom dresses, and quilts for the great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower garden, and watching birds. She especially loved the children in her life. After raising her own two daughters, Tracy and Sydney, she adopted one of her granddaughters, Samme, and helped raise two other granddaughters, Jamie and Janese. She even cared for her great grandson, Ian.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, William McLean; her daughters, Tracy Kelley, Sydney Porter, and Samme Lansdowne; her step-sons, Michael McLean and Roger McLean; her granddaughters, Jamie Magda, Janese Pierson, Casey McCall, and Daphane Porter; her grandsons, Joshua Kelley and Samuel Kelley; and at least nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Taylor Fisher, Fredrick Fisher, Robert Fisher; sister, Ruth Fisher; and her first husband, Charlie Littlejohn.
A memorial brick for Helen will be placed at the Clear Lake City Freeman Branch Library, across the street from her last residence.

Randy D. Scott
Randy D. Scott, 58, retired Boeing manager and current Spirit AeroSystems employee, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 26, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Somers) Scott; daughter, Stephanie Scott, of Wichita; sister, Cobena Dick (Robert), of Paris, Tenn.; and nephews, Ben and Raymond.
A memorial has been established with the Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 Zoo Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67212.

Gladys L. St. Peter
Gladys L. St. Peter, 84, of Winfield, died Jan. 24, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel in Winfield. Private interment will follow. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Gladys was born Nov. 5, 1923, in El Dorado, Kan., to Smiley Glen and Helen (Brush) Snyder. She was raised and educated in El Dorado and was a graduate of El Dorado High School. She graduated from the National Weather Service Weather School in Kansas City, Mo., where she met her husband. She married Anthony Michael "Tony" St. Peter on June 5, 1943, in El Dorado.
They raised five children in El Dorado and later Winfield, Kan. She was active in bridge clubs in El Dorado and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Winfield. She worked at Graves Drug after the death of her husband.
Gladys is survived by sons Lewis St. Peter, of Canton, Ga., and Nick St. Peter, of Winfield; daughters Rosemary Baugher, of Independence, Mo., Kathy St. Peter, of Kansas City, Mo., and Joan Cales, of Winfield; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Glen and Edwin Snyder; and two sisters, Joy Brown and Betty Britting.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Service of Winfield.
Joseph E. Whitehead
Joseph E. Whitehead, 86, of Arkansas City, was found dead Thursday (January 24, 2008) at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (January 29, 2008) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.

Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
