Donald Wayne Colbert

Donald Wayne Colbert, 72, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Norman Reeves will officiate. Donald was born on Aug. 10, 1935, in Haskell, Okla., to Benjamin F. and Beatrice A. (Anderson) Colbert. He was reared and educated in Stone Bluff, Okla. He graduated from Chilocco High School in 1954. After high school Donald attended Cowley College for two years. On Feb. 14, 1975, Donald married Molly Keehn in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Donald worked as an engine mechanic for G.E. until his retirement in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Molly of the home; his brother, Mac Colbert, of Tulsa, Okla.; seven children, Randy Wayne Colbert and his wife, Ana, of Tulsa, Terri Lynnea McGinley and her husband, William, of Tivoli, N.Y., Vicki Jo Chroback and her husband, Paul, of Hope Hills, N.C.; Debbie Coppage, of Leasburg, Mo., Richard Coppage, of Mulvane, Cathellen Vick and her husband, John, of Leasburg, Mo.; Kevin Coppage and his wife, Elizabeth, of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; three half brothers; one half sister; a. son, Jackie Don; and one granddaughter.

Ruth Elizabeth Henderson

Ruth Elizabeth Henderson, 84, formerly of Ponca City, and Arkansas City, died Wednesday night Jan. 30, 2008, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Center in Blackwell. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Trout Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Daniel of the Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City, officiating. Graveside rites and interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at the Bob Henderson residence 515 W. South Street in Newkirk. Ruth Elizabeth Henderson was born July 11, 1923, in Sterling, the daughter of John J. Welty and Margaret Evans Welty. She grew up and received her early education in Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School. On March 9, 1940, Ruth Elizabeth Welty married Robert Ray Henderson in Arkansas City, where they established their first home. She moved to California to be with her family when Robert joined the United States Navy and served overseas. She then moved to Stillwater, Okla., while her husband attended Oklahoma A&M College and she was raising her two young sons. In 1948, she moved to Ponca City, when Robert was hired by Continental Oil Company. Ruth was a homemaker and devoted mother; in 1966 after her youngest son graduated, she went to work for Dr. Edwin Yeary and worked for him until he retired in 1992. Ruth and Robert moved to Arkansas City, where they resided until Robert's death in 2005. Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City. She was an active member with Robert in the VFW and held many offices in the auxiliary and served in the canteen. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Wayne and Judie Henderson, of Newkirk, and James Richard and Janet Henderson, of Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren, their spouses and children, Lt. Col. Landon and Jennifer Henderson, Brooks and Cooper, of Hickman AFB Hawaii, Dr. Natalie and Dr. Richard Drake, Evelyn and Charlie, of Avon Lake, Ohio, Jamie and James Winner and Nina of Oconomowoc, Wis., Malynda Tally and Whitney, of Bartlesville, and Spike and Karey Henderson, Paige and Hope, of Blackwell; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel Catherine and Stuart Lane, of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one sister. Casket bearers will be Chuck Covey, Danny Goldman, John T. Pitts, Russ Cummings, Jeff Rohrs, and Bryan Rohrs.

A memorial has been established for the Opportunity Center, 2225 N. Union, Ponca City, OK 74601. Arrangements are under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City. ADV.


Faith Hanna

Faith Hanna, 106, died Wednesday, Jan. 30. 2008, at the Cumbernauld Village. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. Monday. Born July 2, 1901, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Dr. Claude A. Martin and Maude (Emory) Martin. She spent many years as a teacher and later the principal of Whittier Grade School, retiring in 1967. Survivors include her son, Martin Hanna, Hot Springs Village, Ark., two grandchildren, Jeff Hanna and Julie Usry; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanna; and a daughter, JoAnn Hanna.

A memorial has been established for the Grace Episcopal Church Loyette Olson outreach fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.
