Helen V. Buchele (Fettig)
Helen V. Buchele (Fettig), 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008.
Born Dec. 18, 1917, in rural Kingman County, Kan., she was the daughter of Karl and Myrtle Fettig. She graduated from Kingman High and attended business school.
Survivors include her daughter, Verona, of Raytown, Mo.; one son, Kenneth, of Emporia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and oldest son, James.
Memorials have been established in lieu of flowers with the First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale, Cedar Vale, KS 67024, The Good Samaritan Fund with Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW Sixth, Topeka, KS 66606-2299 and the Foundation for Hospice Care, Inc., 3715 SW 29th, Topeka, KS 66614.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home, Winfield.
A. H. "Pappy" Skibbe
A. H. "Pappy" Skibbe, 94, Geuda Springs, and Oxford, most of his life, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Frank Funeral Home, Wellington.
Born June 5, 1913, in Marion, Kan., he was the son of Theo and Anna (Nuss) Skibbe. He was a farmer and grader operator for the township.
Survivors include his sons, Merlin Skibbe, South Haven, Galen Skibbe, Arkansas City; daughters, Sherril Starlin and Karen Glen, both of Arkansas City; sisters, Pearl Doyle, Wellington; Evelyn Evans, of Oregon, and Alice Wolfe, of Washington; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen F. (Kabureck) Skibbe; his parents; three brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Frank Funeral Home, Wellington.
Tommy G. Collins
Tommy G. Collins, 76, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in the presence of his family, after a courageous 10 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrichs) disease.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the First Assembly of God Church in Winfield. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 7-9 p.m.
Born Nov. 25, 1931, he was the son of Joseph H. and Ester Josephine (Norman) Collins. He worked for the Post Office until retirement, then for the City of Winfield and retired again.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of the home; daughter, Jenny Kennedy, South Sioux City, Neb.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Louise Van Fleet; parents; a brother, Joseph E. Collins; two sisters, Betty Curtin and Lois Fielding.
Memorials have been established for the First Assembly of God Church missions and for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Helen Marie Breeden
Helen Marie Breeden, 93, Alma, formerly of Arkansas City, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at the Alma Care Center.
Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Private interment will be held in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Hackney.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
Helen was born Oct. 28, 1914, in rural Winfield, to Omer D. and Cora Pearl (Beatty) Breeden. She was reared and educated in the Winfield area until she was 10 years old. She moved with her family at that time to Arkansas City, where she attended school. Helen worked for 31 years for the Woolworth Company and one year for Dye's Drug Store as a clerk. She enjoyed being with family and friends, gardening, bird watching and taking care of her dog. She lived most of her life in Arkansas City until 2001, when she decided to move to Eskridge, Kan., to be near family. She spent the last four years of her life at the manor in Alma.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and the Ark City Garden Club.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Vernon Breeden, of Topeka. and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
A memorial has been established with the Arthritis Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Juanita Wahlenmaier, 92, died Friday, Feb. 8 2008.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
