Erland C. Bill Peterson

Erland C. Bill Peterson, 86, Arkansas City, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.

A full obituary will appear in the Saturday edition of the Traveler. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Nancy Widener

Nancy Widener, 55, Winfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Miles Funeral Service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. Sunday. The family will greet friends during that time. Born March 4, 1952, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Charles and Paula (Moon) Feger. She worked at the court house until 2002. Survivors include her mother, Paula Feger, Winfield; husband, Linnie Widener of the home; son, Dustin Charles Widener, Oxford; daughters, Angie Hogan, Paula Robinson and Ashley Widener, all of Winfield; sister, Marcia Thiel, Winfield; 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Feger.

A memorial has been established for the Crossroads Community Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield. On-line condolences may be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.


Pauline M. June

Pauline M. June, 74, Rose Hill, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby. Interment will follow in the Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Born Nov. 3, 1933, in rural Peck, she was the daughter of Paul and Eva Mae (Brown) Posey. She was a fulltime homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Charles of the home; sons, Larry D. June, Derby, and Ronald P. June, Wichita; daughters, Linda Phillips, Jacksonville, Fla., and Rhonda K. Simmons, Rose Hill; brothers, Leroy and Jerry Posey, both of Wichita; sister, Betty Miller, Haysville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Caster.

A memorial has been established in Pauline's name for the Woodlawn United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Home, Winfield.


Carl Bain

Carl Bain, 82, longtime Newkirk resident, died Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2008, in the Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in the Sunset Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Dowty, minister of the Woodward New Covenant Church, and the Rev. Rex Roberts, minister of the First Baptist Church, of Newkirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery, Ponca City. Born Oct. 11, 1925, in Uncas, he was the son of John D. and Fern (Fox) Bain. He became manager at Wentz, in Ponca City, retiring in 1986, after 20 years. Survivors include his wife Sarah Emma (Williamson) Bain; a foster son, The Rev. Ed Dowty, of Woodward; three sisters, Edna Harrison, Mary Alice Phipps and Shirley Patton, all of Ponca City; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Henry Bain; one sister, Celia Spurlock.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund through Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk 74647-0468. Arrangements are under the diection of the Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.
