Robert Harrison "Bob" Brady

Robert Harrison "Bob" Brady of Austin and Ottine, Texas, returned to his Lord on Saturday Feb. 16, 2008, at home in Austin. Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Gonzales, Texas. Lunch will follow. He was born March 8, 1927, in Arkansas City, to Judson and Nell Brady. Bob spent his formative years in Arkansas City. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radioman. Bob obtained a bachelor of science degree in petroleum geology in 1951 from Oklahoma University. He was involved in football, playing offensive and defensive end at Arkansas City Junior College and Oklahoma University. Golf was a favorite sport. He won his first tournament at age 12. He spent 40 years as an exploration geologist, in West Texas with Core Labs, New Orleans and Corpus Christi with Seaboard Oil Company and Jake L. Hamon and as an independent oil producer. In 1978, Bob and his first wife, Ida Waite Brady, deceased in 1980, began cattle ranching in Ottine, Texas. Raising Beefmaster cattle became his love and a favorite career. After the passing of his first wife, Bob married Antoinette "Twan" Lonquist in 1984. He was a lifelong member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Bob was a cradle Methodist and an active participant in the church wherever he lived. He especially loved the old gospel and country western music. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Twan Brady; daughter, Tracy Gary Eddins, of Corpus Christi, and family; son, Jud and Sheri Brady and family, of Plano; stepsons, Dr. Paul and Joyce Lonquist and family, of Farmers Branch; Dick and Margaret Lonquist and family, of Austin; brother, Jud and Gloria Brady, of McAllen; nieces, Paula and Paul Moxley and family, of McAllen, Judy Brady, of Houston, Cindy Brady, of McAllen; nephew, Bob and Michelle Brady and family, of San Antonio; and numerous cousins, friends and business associates.

Ruth Marie Sanders

Ruth Marie Sanders, 77, Ponca City, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at the Ponca City Medical Center in Ponca City. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, at Westminster Village, 1601 Academy Rd., Ponca City, Okla. Ruth was born Friday, Feb. 28, 1930, in Wadena, Minn., to the late Samuel N. Noyes and Louise E. Konczak Noyes. She attended and graduated from Canton High School in Canton, S.D. After high school she became an RN and worked at McKennan Hospital, married Verlyn J. Graham on July 14, 1951, and raised four children in Sioux Falls, S.D. She and her family moved to Arkansas City in 1966, where Ruth continued her nursing career, working as Cowley County health nurse and head nurse at Presbyterian Manor. She was divorced from Verlyn Graham and later remarried to Gareth Sanders in August 1973. Ruth was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, Zeta Zeta chapter in Arkansas City. She moved to Owasso, Okla., with husband Gary in 1990, and later to Ponca City. Ruth was an avid gardener, winning many prizes for her irises. She loved to draw and paint, entering the Ponca City Iris Festival theme contest each year. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Graham, of Shoreline, Wash.; one son, Robert Graham, of Springdale, Ark.; and three stepchildren, Michael Sanders, of Ponca City, Vicky Wolcott, of Winfield, and Malinda Crandall, of Warrensburg, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Verlyn J. Graham and Gareth Sanders; and sons, Thomas Graham and Timothy Graham.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Westminster Village, 1601 Academy Road, Ponca City, OK, 74604, where she lived since 2004. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.


Gail Ross

Gail Ross, 99, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Center in Arkansas City.

Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
