Lt. Col. Kirby Lee Green (Ret.)

Lt. Col. Kirby Lee Green (Ret.), United Stated Army, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Sandhausen, Germany. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Kirby was born Jan. 7, 1943, in Arkansas City. He graduated from Arkansas City High School. Kirby received his bachelor of science degree from Central Oklahoma State and his master's from the University of Kansas. He attended Officer's Training School in Fort Benning, Ga. Kirby then attended the Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterrey. He was sent to Vietnam as an interpreter. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor. After Vietnam, Kirby was selected to attend the Staff and Command College in Australia. He was the core intelligence officer in Desert Storm. He retired in 1993. He married Mary Slattery in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1989, who survives him. In additon to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Libby Green, of Santa Fe, N.M.; mother, Pearl Green, of Ponca City, Okla.; sister, Nancy Curran, of Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, George K. Green and a brother, John Green.

Shirley Earlene Bright

Shirley Earlene Bright, 70, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Galachia Heart Hospital, Wichita. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Gale Rider will officiate.

A memorial has been established with the Mt. Zion Community Church building fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.


David Walter Thompson Jr.

Funeral services for David Walter Thompson Jr., 86, Arkansas City, who died Saturday, April 12, 2008, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Pastor Robert L. Ferris, First Christian Church, Newkirk, officiated. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery. Special music was by Dave von Kleist. Casket bearers were Don Bennett, Allen Herman, Mark Meador, Otis Morrow, Harry Fitzgerald and Phil Marrs. Honorary casket bearers were Chuck Dumenil, Dennis Stover and Bob Lindenbaum.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Patsy Sue O'Neal

Funeral services for Patsy Sue O'Neal, 56, Arkansas City, who died Monday, April 14, 2008, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Blessing Heights Church of God Apostolic Faith in Arkansas City. The Rev. Tim Smith officiated. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery. Special music was by Andrea McNown and Rhenea Smith. Casket bearers were Jerry Morgan, Jeff Denson, Jim Denson, Brad Morgan, Steve Tyler and John Tyler.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Melvin James Masingale

Funeral services for Melvin James Masingale, 64, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stephen Bailey officiated. Private interment was in the Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City. Special music was by Stephen Butler. Honorary casket bearers were Melvin's family, friends and co-workers. Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Barbara Lee Thoma

Funeral services for Barbara Lee Thoma, 78, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Deacon Tom Herlocker, Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield, officiated. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery. Organist was Kimy Christie. Special music was by Stephen Butler. Casket bearers were Shawn Standerfer, Terry Anstine, Wayne Jackson, Dennis Cameron, Kenny DiVall and Les Miller.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Cecilia M. Thielen

Mass of Christian Burial for Cecilia M. Thielen, 60, Arkansas City, who died Friday, April 18, 2008, was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Charles Seiwert officiated. Interment was in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Organist was Karen Pontious. Cantor was Pam Hess. Casket bearers were Robert Williamson, Gerald Lobemeyer, Kristina Thielen, Melvin Johnson, Stoney Johnson and Chris Gillette.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Verne H. Gottlob

Funeral services for Verne H. Gottlob, 86, Winfield, who died Friday, April 18, 2008, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Norman Reeves officiated. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery. Special music was by Kathy Waite. Pianist was Sara Weinert. Casket bearers were Andrew Gottlob, Clinton Gottlob, Austin Gottlob, Brett Gottlob, Curtis Gottlob, Alex Gottlob and Russell Gottlob. Honorary casket bearers were Jennifer Petersen, Angela Norton, Dina Blevins, Kimberly McDonald, Kristy Gottlob, Justin Waite and Austin Waite.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.


Nina J Gee

Graveside services for Nina J Gee, 95, Arkansas City, who died Saturday, April 19, 2008, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Robert L. Ferris, First Christian Church, Newkirk, officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Michael Saunders, Mark Cranston, Tom Banwart, Mitchell Gee, Matt Gee and Jim Hess.
