Harold Branson

Harold Branson, 82, of Blackwell, Okla., formerly of Wellington, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell, Okla. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 2, 2008, at the Hawks Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Wellington. Private family interment will be in the Sumner Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday. He was born April 4, 1926, in Coats, Kan., the son of Joseph Orin and Mildred L. McGaughey Branson. Harold owned and operated "Branson Construction" as a construction contractor from 1951 until his retirement in 1991. Surviving to honor his memory are his son, Dennis Branson, of Fredrick, Md.; daughter, Cynthia Helmer, of Winfield; sister, Doris Foresman, of Blackwell; five grandchildren; and companion Melva Schalk, of Blackwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eona (Alexander) Branson in 1997; two brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial has been established with the Faith Hospice of Blackwell. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington. Online condolences may be made at www.hawksfuneralhome.com
