Hazel Marie Wolfe, 92, of Arkansas City, formerly of Newkirk, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Medicalodges of Arkansas City.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Hope Cemetery.
The Rev. Jack Dickson, of Shepherd's Grace Church, and the Rev. Danny Daniels, of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Her grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
Hazel Marie Murphy was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Arkansas City, the daughter of William Landis Murphy and Martha Susan (Warth) Murphy.
She grew up and received her education in Arkansas City.
On Oct. 29, 1938, Hazel and Merle Shurtz were married in Arkansas City.
They established their home on a farm in the Arkansas City area.
Mr. Shurtz died Aug. 10, 1959.
On Jan. 17, 1964, Hazel and Otto Wolfe were married in Newkirk, where they made their home.
Mr. Wolfe died Jan 24, 1996.
Mrs. Wolfe remained in Newkirk until 2000, when she moved to Arkansas City.
Hazel was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Arkansas City.
She enjoyed playing cards.
Hazel took delight in taking care of her home and her family.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Shurtz and Ronnie Shurtz, both of Arkansas City; daughters, Sheryl Fultz and Virginia Parker, both of Arkansas City, and Merlene Smith, of Newkirk; sister, Eleen Barclay, of Arkansas City; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to both husbands, Hazel was preceded in death by her stepson, Wayne Shurtz; parents; brother, Willie Murphy; and three granddaughters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service, Newkirk.
