Kanyon Gingher and Charles Jennings both had the chance to throw pie in the face of a Traveler employee on Friday.
They had won the drawing during the KSOK-Traveler Red Kettle challenge Dec. 8 -- reward for dropping at least $10 into the Traveler's kettle during the Salvation Army's annual holiday fundraising campaign.
The challenged raised $4,000.
Instead they partnered with Safe Homes, Inc., to stage an event to raise awareness of domestic violence. Instead of somebody's face, the pie was thrown on a target that crossed out the words "Domestic Violence" and read, "all hits can hurt."
Two Country Mart employees hid their faces to send the message that victims of domestic violence come from all walks of life, genders and ethnicities.
