McPherson routs Ark City boys
By DAVID WOLMAN

Arkansas City boys basketball coach Ben Proctor was well aware of McPherson's trap defense coming into Friday night.
But the advanced warning wasn't enough, as the Bullpups overwhelmed Ark City with their trap. McPherson took advantage of over 40 Ark City turnovers last night in an 80-38 rout of the Bulldogs at the Roundhouse.
"They're a very good trapping team and we weren't quite prepared for it," Proctor said. "We turned the ball over and they converted every time."
McPherson's trap defense paid dividends immediately, as it rushed out to an early 16-0 lead. The Bullpups (7-0) never let up, as they had a 44-16 halftime lead before cruising to the 42-point win.
Tanner Hawkinson led McPherson with 15 points. Jordan Fields recorded 14 points, while Kestian Harris chipped in 8 and Tayler Rock 6 for the Bulldogs (3-2).
Ark City will look to rebound Tuesday at Newton.
