Students gather at school to mourn

Kim Hager, Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor and Ark City High School teacher, told students today not to let the tragic circumstances overshadow their memory of Jodi Sanderholm.
About 100 high school students, teachers and parents gathered at the high school early this morning to begin the grieving and healing process through prayer after learning that Sanderholm was probably dead.
Students began dealing with the loss last night after learning of the discovery of her car and what police believe to be her body.
The Arkansas City High School danceline did not perform as usual, but gathered to pay tribute to her at halftime of the boys basketball game Tuesday night. Three girls - Morgan Green, Sarah Bryant and Lacy Kennedy - read a poem written by all the members of the danceline for Jodi.
Students gathered today and sat silently for a time in front of a small, candle lit table that had a picture of Sanderholm.
"No words can express the suffering, but I know Jodi would be grateful for all of you," Principal Marci Shearon told the group.
Hager quoted a song by the group Mercy Me about wondering what one would do when meeting Jesus in Heaven.
"Will I dance for you, Jesus, or will I, in awe, be still."
She said she thought Jodi was dancing for Jesus today.
"When you were having your worst day, Jodi's smile would warm the room," Hagar told the group.
Youth pastor Brad Vogele encouraged the students to lean on each other and to draw strength from each other. He said it is not possible to understand what had happened and why it happened.
He quoted scripture that says we "see through a dark glass, but one day we will see clearly."
"We can have confidence that Jodi now sees clearly," he said.
Morgan Green read the poem in tribute to Jodi that had been read the night before at the game.
Students were offered a chance to speak, but no one did.
