Thurber motions set for tomorrow
From STAFF REPORTS
More motions from both sides will be heard tomorrow in the next step in the trial of Justin Thurber at the Cowley County Courthouse in Winfield.
According to a press release from the state attorney general's office, a closed hearing will begin at 9 a.m., and an open hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. The release also said the hearing could go into Thursday.
The attorney general's office said the motions will concern Thurber's actions in his past, and his criminal history.
Tomorrow's hearing and future hearing dates were scheduled by District Judge Jim Pringle at a hearing earlier this month.
Pringle ruled Jan. 4 that all Thurber hearings with the exception of one will be open to the public and the media. The one exception will be a pretrial hearing on statements made by the defendant to police.
The Thurber trial is set for June 24.
Thurber is charged with capital murder and other charges in the disappearance and death of Jodi Sanderholm, a 19-year-old Cowley College student. Her body was found Jan. 9, 2007, four days after she went missing.
