Cowley softball ranked eighth in NJCAA preseason poll

By RAMA PEROO
Cowley College

Returning four All-Conference performers from a year ago, the Cowley College softball team is ranked eighth in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll.

Sophomore pitcher Heather Davis, along with outfielders Colby Hart and Danielle Saylor-Perkins, anchor the squad and are coming off being named All-American's as freshmen. The Lady Tigers added some talented freshmen to go along with seven returning players.

Arkansas City native Jacey Juden will join Davis on the mound to give Cowley an imposing pitching staff. The Lady Tigers finished the 2007 season with a record of 46-9 overall and captured their fourth consecutive conference title.

Cowley opens season Feb. 12 at Rose State College. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. The Lady Tigers' first home doubleheader will take place Feb. 19 as they will host Northern Oklahoma College at 2 p.m.
