Kansas bill focuses on employing illegal immigrants
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A group of legislators is calling for passage of a measure aimed at cutting down on the number of illegal immigrants employed in Kansas.
The bill's sponsor, Sen. Peggy Palmer, called illegal immigration one of the most important issues of the day.
A Senate committee will consider the Augusta Republican's bill later this month. Similar legislation will be introduced in the House.
Palmer and other supporters said Thursday that Kansans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the federal government not dealing with the issue and they want the Legislature to do something.
