Cowley track and field performs well in Lincoln

By RAMA PEROO
Cowley College

In her two previous outings, Cowley College sophomore Ashley Cronin hit a national qualifying mark in at least one even.

Make that three straight.

Cronin qualified for the NJCAA national track and field meet in the 5,000-meter run, turning in a third-place time of 18 minutes, 51.67 seconds last weekend at the Adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb. Cronin previously qualified in the 1,000- and 3,000-meter runs, and also as a member of the women's distance medley team.

Cowley posted other good performances in the meet against competition from several NCAA Division I, DII, NAIA and junior colleges.

Also hitting national qualifying marks for Cowley were Nate Newland (one-mile run), Jonathan Cherono (5,000-meter run), Rolando Vasquez (1,000-meter run), and Brett Koehn and Mauricio Morales in the 3,000-meter run.

Kelsey Poljansek continued her stellar season, breaking her own record in the weight throw with a distance of 48 feet, 4.75 inches. She placed 13th.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team (Larry Hill, Deion Ruble, Dakota Price and Justin Viewins) broke the school indoor record, turning in a time of 3:20.94. They placed ninth.
