Restaurant looking for an owner

A national fast-food restaurant chain is looking for an Arkansas City resident to be a franchisee in a new strip shopping center on North Summit Street.
Quiznos area developer Brian Wise said Monday the submarine sandwich shop chain has approved a location in the Summit Place Retail Center at 2401 N. Summit. Several days ago, Wise had a note posted on the approved store location asking for prospective owners to contact him.
He's had some responses from people living surrounding towns, he said, but none from Ark City, he said.
"No one local has stepped up and said they were genuinely interested in it," Wise said. "But we're hoping by putting up that sign we might get some more response."
Quiznos is a national chain based in Denver that specializes in making toasted sub sandwiches made from fresh ingredients, he said.
"We use only premium meats and cheeses sliced fresh every morning," Wise said.
The sandwiches are made with specially made bread specifically formulated to be toasted so it doesn't crumble, he said.
Quiznos uses chef-inspired recipes and has won "numerous national awards," Wise said.
"The (Ark City) site has been pre-approved and an economic study has been done," he said. "We've settled on basic economic terms.
"We're looking for a local person or group of persons to be owners."
Wise, of Lawrence, said he owns six Quiznos stores in northeastern Kansas -- in Lawrence, Manhattan, Junction City and Salina. "I also own development rights for Quiznos. My company goes around and finds great locations."
Anyone interested in being a franchisee can get more information by checking the corporate Web site, www.quiznos.com, or calling Wise at (785)-760-1421.
