Aqua Shocks compete at Wichita
SPECIAL to the TRAVELER
The Wichita Aqua Shocks, a Wichita-based swim team, has added another satellite program in Cowley County.
There are several new swimmers, ages 6 to 19, that have been swimming year-round and done well in competitions.
Bringing in the expertise that the Aqua Shocks can offer will lead this area to new levels of competition. Coaches Paul Taylor of Arkansas City and Steve Buehne of the Aqua Shocks have the desire to see kids have fun and be able to compete, regardless of where they live.
The Aqua Shocks satellite team is swimming three nights a week at the Ark City Aquatic Center. Currently, there are swimmers from Ark City, Winfield, Oxford and even Enid, Okla. on the team.
The hope is that kids can swim year-round and be in great shape for their summer clubs and high school seasons.
This is a great opportunity for kids of all ages. If kids can put their face in the water, they can learn to swim fast.
Swimming is a life-time sport and a great way to stay in shape. For further information, contact Buehne at 316-641-4301.
