Skyline repeats with award

For the second year in a row the service department at Skyline Corporation in Arkansas City was named the best in the corporation.

Skyline operates 16 manufactured housing facilities in the United States and five RV manufacturing facilities. The company chose Doug Thomas, service manager, to receive the Service Excellence Award for 2006. The Arkansas City Skyline service department also won the Housing Service Department of the Year for 2005. The awards are given based on research by an independent company that surveys Skyline customers.

Thomas, along with technicians Jose Ramirez, Jack Kidder, Cliff Overton and Neal Blenden, were given the award for their work in a 10-state area that comprises the local Skyline market.

During 2006 the Skyline service department continued to work hard to complete service in one call and developed the SkyCare program. SkyCare is a program offered to select dealers to assist the dealer with insuring customer satisfaction.

"Winning national Service Excellence awards two years in a row is an indication of the quality work of our service department. More importantly, it is an indication of the quality home that all of our employees build," said plant manager Roy Pepper. "Without a superior quality product, a service department of five could not keep up with service and SkyCare in a 10 state area."

Pepper added that the business is continuing to grow and more employees are needed, included a service technician to expand the SkyCare program.

Skyline is taking applications form 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the facility on Skyline Road.
