Roberts receives award from Winfield Chamber of Commerce

Recognized for her work with area businesses, Lisa Roberts, Cowley College director of business and industry, was recently honored with the Outstanding New Community Builder award for 2006 at the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet.

The award is given to someone who is relatively new to the business community and has had an enormous amount of impact in a short amount of time.

Roberts was the unanimous selection in voting done by the past seven Chamber Board Presidents.

"Lisa has made a significant impact with the amount of businesses she has worked with," President of the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce Lonnie Lee said. "She has had a huge impact on not only the Winfield community, but also on Cowley County."

Roberts also made significant contributions in helping Cowley earn the Star Award, given by the Ark City Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. She was honored to be recognized for her work.

"I was pleasantly surprised, because sometimes when you are working with businesses behind the scenes not a lot of people are aware of what you are doing," Roberts said. "It's important for us to show the community what we are giving back to them in way of entrepreneurial assistance. I was very pleased and honored to receive the award."
