More motions filed for Thurber case
More motions on both sides will be heard tomorrow in the next step in the trial of Justin Thurber at the Cowley County Courthouse in Winfield.
According to the state attorney general's office, the hearing will begin at 9 a.m., and a closed hearing on statements made by Thurber to the police will begin about 4 p.m.
The attorney general's office said the hearing will deal with more motions concerning prior bad acts of the suspect, suppression of search warrant and suppression of eyewitness identification.
In the afternoon, the hearing deal with the defendant's statements which will be closed to the public and media. Judge Jim Pringle will announce when the closed hearing begins, said Ashley Anstaett, director of communications for the Office of the Attorney General.
The Thurber trial is set for June 24.
Thurber is charged with capital murder and other charges in the disappearance and death of Jodi Sanderholm, a 19-year-old Cowley College student. Her body was found Jan. 9, 2007, four days after she went missing.
