Shooting of Ark City man brings charges
By COURIER STAFF
A Wichita man will face trial in connection with the Oct. 28, 2007, shooting in front of Jump Start in downtown Winfield.
An Arkansas City man, Aaron Brown, was shot multiple times in the parking lot.
Robert L. White, 26, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and theft, according to Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith.
The theft charges stem from stolen cigarettes, Smith said. White will appear in court on April 4 for his preliminary hearing, Smith said.
Smith declined to comment further on the case at this time. White is being held on $50,000 bond at the Cowley County Jail, according to a jail spokesperson.
The shooting occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. on a Sunday.
Police have said that gang involvement slowed the investigation, but did not specify if the shooting was motivated by a gang rivalry.
