Manta Rays compete at Division II Championships

SPECIAL to the TRAVELER

The Arkansas City Manta Rays, a local swim club, had four swimmers compete at the Division II Championships last weekend in Springfield, Mo. Paige Vanderpool took home three medals and Jazmynn Burris one.

The Manta Rays worked hard during the short course season. First-year coach Elen Cales and the club are looking forward to a bright and exciting future.

The Manta Rays swim year-round at the Ark City Aquatic Center. If you are interested in swimming and making new friends, the club would like to talk with you and your family.

*Jazmynn Burris (11-12 girls) -- 8, 50 Breast, 42.89; 16, 100 Breast, 1:33.88; 24, 50 Butterfly, 41.47; 27, 100 IM, 1:37.10.

*Kacee Campbell (11-12 girls): 25, 50 Freestyle, 32.12; 25, 200 Freestyle, 2:41.40; 10, 50 Breast, 43.16; 18, 100 Breast, 1:35.62; 14, 100 Butterfly, 1:22.48; 20, 100 IM, 1:20.79; 18, 200 IM, 2:56.89.

*Paige Vanderpool (13-14 girls): 17, 50 Freestyle, 30.02; 15, 200 Back, 2:50.70; 11, 100 Butterfly, 1:16.74; 3, 200 Butterfly, 2:56.35; 14, 200 IM, 2:43.00; 5, 400 IM, 5:51.21; 1, 200 Breast, 2:51.54.

*Jonah Vanderpool (9-10 boys): 26, 50 Freestyle, 40.37; 24, 50 Back, 48.17; 16, 50 Breast, 51.93; 18, 100 Breast, 1:55.22.
