Stinson, Fields, Rohrs selected to play in AVCTL All-Star Game

Bethel College will host the second annual AV-CTL Champions of Character All-Star basketball game March 22 at Thresher Gymnasium.

Approximately 40 seniors from the two leagues, which features schools in Classes 4A to 6A, will participate and will be split into two teams in the boys and girls game -- players from Divisions I and IV will team against those from Divisions II and III.

The girls game starts at 6 p.m., with the boys game to follow at 8.

Expected to play for the Division II and III girls' squad are Natalie Stinson (Arkansas City); Bradye Peniston (Valley Center); Janelle Briar (Newton); Shawna Cikanek and Cally Bridgess (Buhler); Annalisa Jauregui (Winfield); Erin Meyer and Kelsee Farmer (Augusta); and, Melinda McKee (Mulvane).

Named to play for the Division I and IV girls' team are Edan Townley (Hutchinson); Heather Robben (Maize); Stephanie Davison (Salina Central); Jordan Mills (Circle); Jordan Bangert (Kingman); and, Katie Porter, Alysia Hart, Kelsey Frey and Bre Selves (Goddard).

The teams will be coached by the division winning coaches, if available.

Expected to play for the Division II and III boys squad are Jordan Fields and Ryan Rohrs (Arkansas City); Joey Hinckley (Valley Center); Aaron Frazier (McPherson); Eric Regier (Campus); and Adam Bezdek and Conner Gross (Andover).

Named to the Division I and IV boys' team are Kolt Kinder (Circle); Michael Hermreck (Andale); Ryan Lee and Seth Hardiman (Derby); Trey Ronnebaum (Maize); and, Ethan Weis and Steven Shaw (Salina Central).

The boys teams will be coached by Brad Specht of Hutchinson and Jason Stucky of Andover.

The games will be directed by Bethel College men's and women's basketball coaches Mark Yoder and Mark Fox.

"We're extremely excited to continue this event," Fox said. "We see this as a tremendous opportunity to bring together the young men and women from Kansas' largest interscholastic athletic conference for one final chance to compete, have fun, and show off their abilities."

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, and will be available at the door. For further information, contact Yoder at (316) 284-5278 or myoder@bethelks.edu, or Fox at (316) 284-5311 or mfox@bethelks.edu.

Second Amendment
Does the Second Amendment guarantee an individual's right to own a gun, as the Supreme Court recently ruled?

Yes, that was the intent of the founding fathers.
No, the founders were only talking about militias.
It's still unclear.
