The Arkansas City Fire Department teamed up with the Geuda Springs and Wellington fire departments to control a house fire on Monday night.

The ACFD received the call from the Geuda Springs Fire Department at 11:17 p.m., according to Ark City Fire Chief Randy Leach.

By the time the ACFD arrived, the house was completely engulfed in fire so the focus changed to protecting other structures in the area.

The ACFD also controlled a gas meter fire at the site.

The house was called a "total loss" by Shannon Skibbe, the city clerk for Geuda Springs.

A cause for the fire has not been determined yet, said Skibbe.

The house was part of an older generation of homes in Geuda Springs, Skibbe said, though she said there was "no documentation" on its historical significance.
