By RAMA PEROO
Cowley College

Rain suspended play for a day and a half at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Tournament in Plano, Texas, but the Cowley College men's tennis team resumed play Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Tiger sophomore Diego Motivar won his second straight match and advanced to today's semifinal match at No. 2 singles.

Sean Cobble also won his second match before losing in the quarterfinals.

Playing at No. 1 singles, Cowley sophomore Richard Filkuka was eliminated from the tournament after losing a pair of hard fought matches. Also eliminated from the tournament was Bruce Maytubby at No. 5 singles.

Ignacio Velez lost his quarterfinal match at No. 3 singles, while Boomer Saia lost to Abraham Baldwin, Agricultural College's Oliver Smith by a score of 4-6, 5-7 in No. 6 singles play.

Saia returned to the court this morning with a 8-3 win over Meridian Community College's Joe Otto in the back draw of the tournament.

After receiving a bye in the first round of the tournament, Filkuka and Motivar defeated Hinds Community College's Allan Hall/Hleb Maslau 8-2 in the round of 16 at No. 1 doubles.

The No. 3 doubles team of Maytubby and Velez followed up their win in the first round by losing to Tyler Junior College's Thibaud Aime and Clay Cypert, who was a member of last year's Tiger tennis team.

Second Amendment
Does the Second Amendment guarantee an individual's right to own a gun, as the Supreme Court recently ruled?

Yes, that was the intent of the founding fathers.
No, the founders were only talking about militias.
It's still unclear.
