Dexter woman injured in auto accident
From STAFF REPORTS
A Dexter woman was injured after her car made a u-turn on U.S. 166 and collided with a tractor-trailer Monday night, the Kansas Highway Patrol said today.
Hazel Thompson, 65, was taken to the Sedan City Hospital, the highway patrol said, but a woman at the hospital's nursing station said nobody by that name was in the hospital this morning.
Thompson was driving a Toyota passenger car eastbound on U.S. 166 about 20 miles southeast of Winfield, when the accident occurred about 10:30 p.m., the highway patrol said. A tractor-trailer was behind her, also eastbound.
The tractor-trailer apparently jackknifed in the accident and the trailer was found overturned, a highway patrol dispatcher said.
Driver of the rig, Richard Bauer Jr., 40, of Wichita, had "possible injuries" but was not taken to the hospital, the highway patrol said.
