The Ark City Mavericks will soon have a new Saddle Club Princess when Emma Skinner, of Belle Plaine, hands over the reins Friday during the first night of the two-night rodeo, June 29-30.

The three contestants for the 2007 Saddle Club Princess are Staci Kirchoff, of Newkirk; Jael Strecker and Hailee Reed, both of Arkansas City.

The rodeo will be at Maverick Arena south of Arkansas City, off US 77. It will start at 8 p.m.

New this year is Bull Poker, in which contestants place their hands on a table while a bull is set loose. The last one to keep their hands on the table wins.

Other events are: Bareback riding; Saddle bronc riding; Calf roping; Steer wrestling; Barrel racing; Team roping; Bull riding; Wild cow milking; Calf scramble.

There will also be a dance Saturday night at the State Line Lounge after the rodeo.
