A shuttle bus operation providing transportation from Winfield to Arkansas City and on to casinos in the Chilocco area and in Newkirk will begin Friday, an operation manager said Wednesday.
Land Rush Transportation has scheduled runs between noon and 2:45 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
It will take two hours to complete one north-to-south cycle between downtown Winfield and the Southwind Kaw Casino in Newkirk -- the two outermost route points, said Laurence Oliva, general manager of Land Rush Transportation.
On week nights, the last drop-off will be at 12:15 a.m. instead of 2:45 a.m.
The bus won't run on Sundays.
The first bus on Friday will leave at noon from the Alumni Grill & Bar on South Summit Street in Ark City, according to a schedule provided by Oliva.
The bus will head south to Native Lights Casino and on to downtown Newkirk and the Southwind Kaw Casino. It is scheduled to arrive at the Southwind casino at 12:45 p.m. before turning around and heading north.
The bus' last stop will be the Ranch House Barbecue, 809 Main, in Winfield -- arriving there at 2 p.m.
A second run southbound begins in Winfield and proceeds to the Best Western Atrium Gardens in Arkansas City, according to the schedule. It will arrive there at 2:15 p.m. before continuing south again to the casinos.
On weekend nights, the last passengers will be dropped off at the Best Western at 2:45 a.m.
All fares are round-trip and range in cost from $15 to $25 depending on mileage between departure and drop-off points, Oliva said.
For instance, the Winfield to Ark City trips -- to the hotel or Alumni Grill & Bar -- cost $15. It's also a $15 round-trip fare from Ark City to Native Lights.
Longer trips between Winfield and the Eastman National Bank or Southwind Kaw Casino in Newkirk cost $25.
It's a $20 fare between Winfield and Native Lights.
