Candidates will spar at county fair

Check out our Campaign 08 pages.

Primary and general election candidates will face off at a forum at the Cowley County Fair.

Organized by the Arkansas City and Winfield chambers of commerce and the Cowley County Farm Bureau, two forums will be held: one for county races Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m.; and one for state races, Saturday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m.

The primary election is Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4.

The forum location will be the 4-H arena in Building 6 at the Winfield Fairgrounds.

The format gives each candidate an opening statement of three minutes. Candidates then will be asked a series of questions from the moderator and the audience. Response times will be limited to 90 seconds.
