Battle on the Border II has fighters primed for weekend action

Smoke won't be the only thing filling the air at Newkirk's First Council Casino on Saturday evening as tension is sure to occupy its share of breathing space.

The Oklahoma City Storm will be taking on the Kansas City Cage Kings in a Mixed Martial Arts Ultimate Fighting rematch dubbed the 'Battle on the Border II'.

In the first showdown on March 29 between the two rowdy squads, Kansas won the nine-bout card 8-1, but across the border Oklahoma is gunning for revenge.

"Kansas is going down," C3 Fights' team leader Wayne Cole said.

Fighters at the match will include favorites from UFC, XFC, IFL, IFO, Showtime and more with featured bouts between Gerald 'Hurricane' Harris and Brandon McDowell; Pat 'Bam Bam' Healy and Jake 'The Motor City Assassin' Short, as well as a fight between Santino DeFranco and Christian 'Little Tito Ortiz' Sanchez.

Drew Fickett, a seven-time UFC veteran, will also make a special appearance.

The 10-bout card will begin at 8 p.m. with C3 Fights' 'Ladies of the Cage' Title Fight featuring Lauren Jackson and Jill Slaton.

The doors will open at 7 p.m. and autographs will be signed inside the casino at the conclusion of the fights.

General admission tickets are $25 and can be bought at First Council Casino, on-line at www.zooamp.com or by phone at (405) 364-3700.
