City band sets final concert

The final concert of the 137th season of the Arkansas City Community Band will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wilson Park Rotunda.

The concert will feature a wide variety of musical selections from the band, as well as a special guest performance from the Walnut Valley Men's Chorus. Kan-Pak has donated ice cream for the audience.

The band has been under the direction of Chris VanGilder; Shannon Gackstatter and Hans Judd have also directed the band this summer.

Band members include:

Flute: Karly Marshall, Katie Phillips, Emma Schrag, Shelby Scott and Dianna Thompson. Oboe: Shannon Gackstatter. Clarinet: Jenna Boswell, Holly Gage, Brianna Herndon, Tim Hewitt, Courtney Oakley, Kaile Shrode, Kristine Thompson, Stephanie VanGilder, Mallory Vickery and Kendal Walton. Bass Clarinet: Mikayla Beauchamp. Bassoon: Paige Bower. Saxophone: David Bartlett, Daniel Byers, Phillip Vinson and Griff Young. Trumpet: Teall Culbertson, Sarah Enderud, Tanner Seidel, Jon Wallace, Charlotte Wilson, and Amanda Young. Horn: Jeff Adams. Trombone: Hans Judd, Melodie Parman and Josh Waldorf. Baritone: Justice Anderson. Tuba: Ryan Cells. Percussion: Jared McGuire, Stuart Parman, and Michael Sturd.

The concert is free and park benches are available for seating.
