The first-ever Strother Field Fly-In and Classic Car Show kicked off Saturday to honor the life of longtime pilot and instructor Melvin Current, who died last year at the age of 77.

The event started with a precision landing competition and pancake breakfast. There were introductory flights and aerobatic flights given to the public. Classic cars were on display at the Classic Car Show, as well as military vehicles.
