Dogs will get their day at park

Calling all dogs to come have a soggy good time. For the first time, Paris Park Pool will be going to the dogs as it joins the Arkansas City Recreation Commission for a "pooch plunge" from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Admission is $10 for the first dog and $6 for each additional dog. Admission includes entry into all events and contests as well as a treat for your pup. $2 from each admission will be donated to the Cowley County Humane Society.
Prizes will be awarded to the following categories:
Contests - Largest dog, smallest dog, best talent, swim suit competition and best dressed.
Events - Doggy dive, dog eat dog, quickest retrieval and farthest leap.
The following guidelines will help to keep the event safe:
*All dogs must have current vaccinations, including rabies - tags or papers for proof.
*Dogs only - no other pets.
*Owners will not be allowed in the water, but can enjoy the concessions and other amenities.
*Dogs must be leashed when not in the pool.
*Dogs need to be at least 6 month of age.
*Female dogs in season are not allowed.
*Unruly participants will be asked to leave.
*Owners must be in control of pets at all times.
*Pet owners will be provided with a plastic bag at admission - please practice pet etiquette and clean up after your dog and dispose of the bag.
*Drinking water and rinsing stations will be available - look for signs.
*No pit bull terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers or combination of these breeds will be allowed.
