MITCHELL, S.D. -- Logan Butler, a 9-year-old from Geuda Springs, captured the championship in his age division Sept. 27 at the National Pedal Pull contest.

This is the second year in a row that Butler has won the national title in his age group.

Butler qualified for nationals with a victory in the state qualifying contest at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.

More than 25 competitors who qualified at their state contests converged on Mitchell, S.D. to take part for prizes that included trophies, medallions and a $100 savings bond, which went to the winner.

Logan attributes the win to all the farm work he is involved in at home, in addition to the exercise he gets riding his bike and playing for the fourth grade Arkansas City Bulldog football team.

Logan is registered to return to the International contest to be held in July 2009.

Logan is the son of Brett and Cathy Butler of Geuda Springs.
