Suspect in custody
Timothy Riggins, of Wichita, was arrested Sept. 20 on charges related to the Sept. 17 Arkansas City bank robbery of Home National Bank.
Evidence, which was forwarded to the FBI in Wichita, was developed by Arkansas City detectives implicating Riggins.
Riggins, on parole for a 2003 bank robbery, was revoked for his involvement in the Ark City robbery. When U.S. Marshals served the parole revocation warrant on Riggins, he ran from, then assaulted them when he was finally secured. Riggins was in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest.
He was charged with parole violation, assaulting a federal officer and possession of cocaine. He has since had a revocation hearing in Kansas City where a judge ruled that he be returned to prison and serve out his original sentence.
According to ACPD, since Riggins is currently serving time for previous charges, the U.S. district attorney's office should have adequate time to build the Ark City case against him.
Although there is mounting evidence against Riggins, the details cannot be disclosed at this time.
