City announces refuse pick-up, landfill closing times

The City of Arkansas City Sanitation Department and the Cowley County landfill will be closed Nov. 27-28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The sanitation Department will collect refuse as follows:

Monday, Nov. 24 - All routes will be collected.

The part of Tuesday's routes to be collected on Monday are:

* the area from Madison Avenue south to the canal and Summit Street to E Street and also Sleeth Addition. Summit east to C Street from Birch Avenue to the C Street Canal.

Tuesday, Nov. 25 - The remainder of Tuesday's route and all of Wednesday's route will be collected on Tuesday. The part of Thursday's route to be collected on Tuesday is:

* the area of Birch north to Kansas Avenue from Sixth Street west to 15th Street.

Wednesday, Nov. 26 - All remaining parts of Thursday's routes will be collected on Wednesday, and all of Friday's route will be picked up on Wednesday.

All refuse should be placed at the alley or curb by 6 a.m.

There will be no return pickups.
