Area men compete at Wrangler Nationals

Stockton Graves, of Newkirk, and Jerome Schneeberger, of Ponca City, are currently competing at the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

After seven rounds, Graves sits in ninth place of the steer wrestling division, with an aggregate of 27.30/6. Schneeberger is in seventh place in tie-down roping with an aggregate of 66.50/7.

So far in nationals, Graves has earned $26,874 while Schneeberger has earned $30,320.51.

Graves finished in a tie for 13th on Wednesday after recording a no tackle. Schneeberger placed fifth with a score of 8.1, earning $4,134.62.

Graves qualified for the event by winning the Kansas/Oklahoma/Nebraska region of the Dodge Circuit National Circuit Finals in the spring. He has won the event two years running, earning a Dodge pickup both times.

The Wrangler National Finals runs through Saturday.
